They can be made of copper, stainless steel, iron, rubber etc.
Horse rugs protect the horse from scorching heat, frost, rain, wind and pests. Such rugs are put on it while the horse is in the field, stable or when been riding. They are very useful to keep the horse warm, dry and some rugs will also protect the horse when travelling or from flies.

Horse boots are worn by the horse on its front and back legs. They will prevent injury while travelling, exercising etc. They are available in leather, synthetic material or rubber. They either have Velcro fastenings or leather buckles.
